Namib – Naukluft National Park
Situated between the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and the edge of the Great Escarpment, Namib-Naukluft national park is located in the western region of Namibia. The park is the largest national park in the African continent and the fourth largest in the whole world. It encompasses different features including the Namib Desert which is considered as the world’s oldest desert, the Naukluft mountain range and the lagoon at the sandwich Harbor.

It consists of a part of land on the Atlantic Ocean including about 1,609 kilometers of the sea that extends 600 kilometers north to south from the Swakop River to the B4 road to Luderitz.

Namib – Naukluft National park is categorized as semi-desert savanna and it hosts a variety of rare and weirdest species in the world of both plants and animals. Among these species include the large lichen fields, Aloe Sladeniana, Welwitschia Mirabilis, cluster fig, Commiphora, Euphorbia, Aloe Karasbergensis, acacia, Hartmann’s Mountain zebra and others.

Namib Naukluft National Park is also a home of numerous wildlife species including the oryx, kudu, dassie rat, rock dassie, klipsringer, steenbok, springbok, mountain zebra, chacma baboon, and others. Besides animals, the park also hosts over 200 bird species including the Augur buzzard, lappet faced vulture, monteiro’s hornbill, common waxbill, pale chanting goshawk and others.
